Christmas in Wintersville was the theme of the annual parade and events held in Winters last weekend. Hundreds joined in the parade as well as the crowning of Snow Queen, extended shopping, a hamburger fundraiser, bingo and a holiday door decorating contest at Winters Elementary. The events were sponsored by the Winters Chamber of Commerce and the theme "Wintersville" was patterned after the Dr. Seuss classic "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." The parade included plenty of theme decorated floats, including the Grinch himself. The weekend of Christmas activities culminated Saturday afternoon in the crowning of the Snow Royalty in Winters Saturday, Dec. 10.
There were a total of seven candidates vying for the titles of Snow Queen, Show Princess and Snow Flake, for the annual event sponsored by the Winters Chamber of Commerce.
"We had a great candidate pool this year and it was very hard for the judges to make their final selections," said Maegan Schwartz, director of the chamber.
Summer Schneider, a sophomore at Winters High School, was selected Snow Queen. Summer was the lone candidate for Snow Queen and was awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
Myra Ochoa was crowned Snow Princess, while Shelby Santos was named first runner up and Ashlyn Richards was named second runner up.
Sahalee Curry was named Snow Flake, Maydyson Curry was named first runner up and Raimey Walker was named second runner up.
The Snow Princess and Snow Flake received $100 in Winters bucks to be spent at businesses who are members of the Chamber of Commere.
